Fire engineering

Fire engineering is a vital aspect of all building design processes. Using expert knowledge of the response of people and buildings to fire, our fire engineering team facilitate architectural vision and address client needs, such as business continuity and property protection.

Buro Happold develops integrated fire strategies for a wide variety of construction sectors, using research, analysis and design flair, combined with comprehensive code knowledge, to produce tailor-made fire safety solutions suited to each project’s unique needs.

Fire engineering at Buro Happold has developed significantly since Happold Fire Engineering was founded. We now have fire engineers located across the UK, with additional capabilities in New York and the Middle East. A combination of international experience and local knowledge enables our engineers to respond quickly to project demands and to fully understand the complexities of working in local markets with the latest industry innovations.

The new Riverside Museum, Scotland’s Museum of Transport and Travel, is located on a dramatic site at the point where two rivers, the Clyde and the Kelvin meet, close to Glasgow Harbour. As well as providing a permanent home for collections not previously on public display, the new museum exhibits the contents of the old Glasgow Museum previously held at Kelvin Hall. Kelvin Hall was the second most visited attraction of its type in the UK, with half a million visitors a year, so the new Riverside Museum is well placed to become a world-class cultural destination.
