Fire and Facades: Existing Buildings

This masterclass will provide guidance on Buro Happold’s 3-phase approach to the assessment of the facades on existing buildings – Information gathering, assessment, and remedial works.

It will also provide clarity on the responsibilities of parties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRO) and when Building Regulations are applicable in relation to existing buildings.

Peter Goff is an Associate in Buro Happold’s London Facade Engineering team. Since joining Buro Happold in 2009, Peter has worked on a variety of complex facade projects in the UK and globally, ranging from residential and commercial developments to prestigious cultural buildings. Peter is currently leading the BuroHappold facades team on the Stratford Waterfront East Bank development in London, which includes new buildings for the V&A, Sadler’s Wells, BBC and London College of Fashion.

Jamie Lee McQuillan is an Associate Fire Engineer based in London. He joined Buro Happold in 2014 after completing his masters in fire safety engineering. Jamie Lee has worked on a number of high-profile projects ranging from historically significant buildings such as the Imperial War Museums, to modern architecturally complex buildings such as St Giles Circus. His key roles include developing and implementing fire strategies, consultancy and advisory roles to high profile clients, and project leadership.
