Buro Happold to lead University of Pittsburgh sustainability plan

Buro Happold has been selected to lead the Comprehensive Sustainability Plan at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt).

The University is looking to integrate sustainable best practices into all areas of the University operations, academics, research and public service through a more connected and unified approach to sustainability.

Buro Happold kicked off the sustainability plan project, working closely with the leadership team at Pitt to define a vision, establish goals and objectives, KPIs, and create a roadmap for implementation.  Our team will be facilitating various working groups to ensure that Pitt is developing meaningful curriculum, scholarly research and outreach activities that inspire future generations to consider sustainability in all that they pursue.  The team will develop a comprehensive stakeholder engagement and communication plan for Pitt, with aim to last far beyond the life of the planning project.

Buro Happold is building upon a series of great project successes in Pittsburgh, including the Tower at PNC Plaza, our Design Sprint on Autonomous Vehicles in Pittsburgh and various planning work throughout the City.

The team is also expanding on existing higher education planning work throughout the country (including UNC Chapel Hill, Case Western University and George Mason University) as well as connecting to various City initiatives such as p4 Pittsburgh, Resilient Pittsburgh and the 2030 District.
