Embodied Carbon and Structures Masterclass

Following on from our Introduction to Embodied Carbon Masterclass Jonathan will delve into some of our recent research and studies on the Embodied Carbon in the structure of a building.

Embodied Carbon can represent as much as 70% of the construction stage and  40% of the Whole Life Carbon in the building structure. He will explore the primary driver of this embodied carbon, how this is affected by brief, design decisions and material selection and then look at how this can be reduced to work towards Net Zero Carbon buildings.

Jonathan is a Technical Director is our Structural Team and leads our structural engineering response to the Climate Emergency. He has over 20yrs experience in the design of Low Embodied Carbon buildings with a big focus on Timber and other Natural materials. Over the last 18months he has lead much of our work on our journey to assess the embodied carbon of all of our designs, developing our knowledge on how to reduce this and working with our clients and collaborators to reduce the impact of their buildings.
