Climate change in environmental assessment

Our environmental assessment and management team have experience and expertise around analysing the effects related to climate change, both within and outside of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). This includes both greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and climate change adaptation and resilience.

GHG emissions in environmental assessment

We have undertaken GHG emissions environmental statement chapters for several private and public sector clients, on a range of projects, including mixed-use urban regeneration schemes and residential development schemes.

We are able to estimate GHG emissions associated with a proposed development over each lifecycle stage. Our estimations are either based on benchmarks or more detailed project-specific information. We then frame this information within the context of EIA, determining the significant effects relating to GHG emissions, in line with legislation and guidance.

Climate change adaptation and resilience risk assessment

We have developed an approach to climate change resilience risk assessments within EIA and SEA, which we have undertaken on a range of projects. Based on the probability of a risk occurring and consequence of that risk occurring over the lifecycle of the development, we identify key risks and appropriate mitigation measures.
