Wendy is an energy engineer based in our Edinburgh office. She joined Buro Happold in 2020.

In her role, Wendy provides energy strategies, energy masterplans, options appraisals, and solutions on sustainable energy supply and energy efficiency in buildings. She assists clients to develop projects to meet UK and Scottish Government policies that relate to sustainable energy generation and use.

Wendy has worked across commercial and residential construction sectors, on approaches to move towards Net Zero Carbon emissions using a range of renewable and low carbon energy technologies. These include solar photovoltaics (PV), heat pumps (water-source, air-source, ground-source), gas and biogas Combined Heat and Power (CHP), heat from hydrogen, district heating, and energy storage (thermal and battery).

As a Chartered Energy Engineer, she has experience in Low and Zero Carbon (LZC) technologies and sustainability in the built environment. Wendy’s experience in low and zero carbon technologies is cross-sector, taking energy masterplanning and options appraisals to the required level of resolution, whether that is building, campus, community, or regional level.

Wendy graduated from the University of Waterloo, Canada, with a BASc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering before gaining a MSc in Energy, specialising in renewable energy, from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland.

She is also a Chartered Energy Engineer at the Energy Institute (EI) and a Heat Networks Consultant at the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
