Jason Masters has over 30 years of experience in oceanography and renewable energy. He is an expert in carbon dioxide chemistry and algae primary productivity.

As an oceanographer, Jason has worked for NOAA, the Universities of Miami and Washington, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. He has previously worked in the Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Defense and the Dept of Veterans Affairs on renewable energy initiatives.

Over the past six years, he has successfully deployed over $100 million in energy contracts while working with the US Government. He regularly consults on aquaculture efficiency, new product development and integrating current industry into more efficient energy and marine practices.

Jason maintains a position on the New York State Governor’s Task Force on Ocean Acidification and is a member of the industry working group for the Northeast Coastal Acidification Network (NECAN) and the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Acidification Network (MACAN). He is actively working with the Long Island Nitrogen Action Plan to promote seaweed mariculture as a means to buffer coastal ocean acidification while creating new markets for seaweeds.

Jason attended the University of Miami where he gained a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science, Biology & Chemistry. He also has a Masters in Science and Marine Chemistry from the University of Miami. In 2005, he attended the University of Rochester Simon School of Business and achieved an MBA in Strategy, Finance and International Business. While completing his studies, Jason was also a Vick Award Winner in Entrepreneurship – Alternative Energy.
