Dr Erica Erlanger

Erica joined Buro Happold in 2023. As a geoscientist with more than 10 years’ experience, she brings her expertise to the Berlin office where she works as a climate consultant.

Erica joined Buro Happold in 2023. As a geoscientist with more than 10 years’ experience, she brings her expertise to the Berlin office where she works as a climate consultant.

She has worked on projects in industry and state-of-the-art research science. Before joining, Erica worked as a research scientist for four years and has five years of experience in subsurface infrastructure consulting.

Her expertise is on landscape change analyses, with a focus on erosion and water resources, using GIS analyses and modelling. She has extensive experience analysing and visualising datasets that span both space and time, and a keen ability to navigate between the big picture and detail-orientated perspectives.

Erica holds a doctorate in Earth Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, and a master’s degree in geology from Purdue University. She currently also holds guest scientist status at the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam. Erica is first author of three scientific publications and co-author of several others. Her article on her research work on constructing the natural CO₂ budget for the Central Apennine Mountains in Italy has been accepted to the Nature Geoscience journal.
