Joining Buro Happold in 2018, Callum leads our Ecology and Biodiversity Management team’s Geographic Information System (GIS) service.

As an environmental consultant, Callum specialises in ensuring our projects are environmentally sustainable by minimising the environmental impacts throughout the project life cycle.

He specialises in using GIS and location intelligence to inform strategic, regional planning decisions that consider the natural environment. Callum uses data modelling to identify issues and predict impacts in order to find workable solutions that minimise the disruption to local wildlife. He also provides key environmental inputs for coastal giga-projects and provides biodiversity insights into designs at the early planning stages.

Additionally, Callum delivers strategic environmental priorities, assessments and masterplanning, impact mitigation, and ecological risk management advice to help projects achieve Biodiversity Net Gain status.

He has worked on projects in the UK and abroad, delivering spatial analysis and modelling, habitat mapping and assessments, and ecological constraints and opportunities mapping for international clients. Callum’s work helps clients to achieve international environmental best practice, including the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Performance Standards.

He studied geography and environmental management at the University of the West of England, where he also completed his master’s degree in geography. He is a member of the Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES) and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
