Buro Happold in Washington, DC

Buro Happold’s DC area office was founded in 2021, building on two decades of work in the region. Our first project in DC was the Smithsonian Institution’s Kogod Courtyard in partnership with Norman Foster, followed by the United States Institute of Peace Headquarters designed by Safdie Architects.

Our DC region team offers structural and MEP engineering, sustainability consulting, and master planning services and is complemented by Buro Happold’s international expertise in over 20 other disciplines.

Clients include the Overseas Building Operations (OBO), the General Services Administration (GSA), Fortune 500 companies, and sustainability-focused mixed-use commercial and technology companies in Virginia, Maryland, and DC. Our work also includes sustainability framework development for major portfolio managers, the public sector, and cultural institutions like the Glenstone Museum.

Our DC practice brings together the long-standing expertise of Buro Happold companies Paladino and brightspot strategy from a vibrant location in Arlington, VA, adjacent to the Court House (Silver/Orange Line) Metro Station.
