People require convenient access to buildings, open spaces and transport facilities. Public spaces and streets should be safe, legible and welcoming. Incoming utility services such as water, electricity, gas, heating and telecommunications should be efficient, reliable and deliverable in a phased and cost-effective manner. For example, sustainable water resource management measures, such as recycling of wastewater for irrigation and sustainable drainage systems, should be integrated with the external landscape.
