Simon Wainwright

Simon has over 30 years’ experience as a consulting engineer. He has been with Buro Happold since 1989, becoming a Partner in 2004, and sits on our Main Board.

Simon’s extensive knowledge and expertise within the built environment has seen him successfully deliver numerous high profile and award-winning projects around the world. He is passionate about the quality and detail of design and believes the best solutions are achieved through a working collaboration between the client, designers, constructors and technical specialists.

An experienced project principal, Simon is direct in his approach, securing exemplary project outcomes within a managed design process. He enjoys working across a variety of sectors, sharing his expertise on design, procurement and project delivery. For the benefit of the project, he uses his business acumen gained from sitting on key leadership and governance boards.

Simon understands what good business looks like and ensures these lessons are embedded into every project he leads. He strives to deliver affordable high-quality solutions with his design team. Simon dedicates his expertise and those of his team to ensure the client’s project is successful – whatever it takes. He thoroughly enjoys his work and proactively challenges issues to drive the right solutions.

Simon is equally comfortable working on both the high level project strategy and developing the detail of a design. He believes good relationships, based on trust and respect, help deliver the best projects. Building good communication and strong relationships with the client and the project team is the cornerstone of his approach.

Simon is an advocate for our industry to develop and use the latest technologies to take the action needed to mitigate the climate and biodiversity emergency, in both our projects and business operations.
