Roger Liu
Group Director
With over 20 years of engineering experience, Roger is a leader in the design of complex buildings and large scale mixed developments that include libraries, theatres, hotels, offices, retail, residential and Transit Hubs.
He has worked with general contractors, specialist contractors and consultancy firms, which has given him extensive hands-on experiences in design, construction and project management. His country experience includes Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China. Roger joined Buro Happold in 2011 as the facade group director, a role initially based in Hong Kong, and extended to cover Beijing from 2013.
He strongly believes that facade work should be delivered using a multidisciplinary approach; architectural and structural engineering providing the baseline combination with material sciences, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, acoustics, optics and sustainability as important ingredients to ensure the delivery of a high quality product.
A sample of his projects includes Singapore Art Centre, Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, Nanjing Youth Olympic Centre, Hong Kong XRL, Zhuhai Hengqin IFC, Yinchuan Art Museum, Xuzhou Suning Plaza and the Shanghai Tongshan mixed-use development.
