Roberto is a People Flow Consultant with a particular interest in using crowd and process modelling to optimise spaces for a wide range of uses and industries. Having previously worked in logistics, Roberto has a deep knowledge of discrete process simulation, and people flow simulation.

He joined Buro Happold’s Analytics team in 2014 after gaining 10 years of experience as a consultant in a variety of industrial environments. His experience covers a wide range of industries and services, including the design of plants for the food and automotive industries, as well as the design of airports and baggage handling systems.

Roberto specialises in metro and railway stations and airports, with a rich portfolio of experience including management and delivery of pedestrian modelling projects for clients such as Riyadh Metro Stations – Olaya and King Abdulaziz Financial District (KAFD), Union Station Washington DC, Astana Rail Station Kazakhstan, Ho-Chi-Min City Metro Vietnam, Metro of Barcelona, London Heathrow Airport, Airports of Alicante and Lanzarote (AENA-Spain).

Roberto’s logistics background means he offers a wider perspective of solutions from a range of different industries and how to apply them to space design and operations. His understanding of processes and ability to analyse them from a different perspective makes his advice a valuable reference.

Since joining Buro Happold he has been involved in crowd simulations of rail/metro stations, airports, multi-use buildings, congress centres, and universities, offering his experience in analysing processes and systems to develop optimised spaces, processes, queuing strategies and coexistence of people and alternative space uses.
