Padraic trained as an engineering scientist at Trinity College Dublin and is a chartered engineer with more than 30 years experience of designing and delivering infrastructure and buildings for the public and private sectors. He has worked extensively in the Middle East, Asia and USA as well as the UK and lived in the Middle East for 13 years.

Following the death of Buro Happold’s founding partner Sir Edmund Happold in 1996 Padraic became the managing director leading the growth of the firm from 150 to 1,150 people

Padraic lectures widely on city issues and is a president of Europengineers and also co-founded the Working Group on Sustainable Cities at Harvard University.
