Dr Mei Ren
Mei has over 20 years experience in the mechanical engineering and energy field. Having graduated in 1992, she started her career as a researcher at the Building Research Establishment and then undertook a PhD study on optimum control of thermal storage systems. Since then, Mei has spent most of her professional life as a mechanical engineer and designer and specialist consultant on a range of projects across many sectors.
Mei’s main interest is mechanical engineering in the built environment. She has a specialist knowledge of building physics, carbon management, low carbon design, energy planning and advanced computational techniques to solve problems such as indoor air distribution, climate resilience and energy assessment.
She is passionate about energy efficiency and carbon management in the built environment.
Mei has delivered some large masterplan projects as a project director, and is experienced in coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary input to ensure seamless integration of skills, embedding sustainability in every element of design and strategy.
