Matteo is a Conservation Accredited Engineer with 20 years experience in working in the assessment, protection, repair and development of the built heritage. The first 15 years of his career were spent in Italy, more recently he has worked in the UK.

Matteo has been working with Prof. Giorgio Croci’s office in Rome on some of the most iconic historic buildings in the city such as the Trajan’s Market, the Basilica of Maxentius, the Bernini’s Colonnade in St. Peter’s Square, The Italian Civilisation Palace and many others.

He has also worked on structural conservation projects across Italy and abroad, especially the Middle East, gaining experience in a broad range of construction typologies from 2,000 years old Roman buildings to modern reinforced concrete frames.

In the UK, he has been working on conservation projects for listed buildings, churches and bridges.

Matteo is currently an Associate in Buro Happold’s facade engineering team in London, where he works in the diagnostic, inspection and remediation services for historic and listed as well as modern and new-built facades.

Matteo’s conservation experience and skills have also allowed him to join the small number of specialists who have achieved CARE – Conservation Accreditation Register for Engineers – registered status with both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers.
