Global Director of Risk and Commercial Law
Margot is BuroHappold Engineering’s Global Director of Risk and Commercial Law. A qualified solicitor with an LLB (Hons), she has considerable expertise in dispute resolution, contract negotiation, risk management and corporate law across the construction and engineering industries.
Operating internationally in this newly created role, Margot heads up our commercial function. She provides vital support by maintaining, strengthening and developing client relationships. Among her key skills is a dynamic approach to Enterprise Risk Management, taking a holistic view that targets early mitigation while capitalising on opportunities that may arise.
Margot is developing and embedding a proactive risk management strategy for BuroHappold, which will not only add value to our client offering but also engage employees and maintain stakeholder confidence.
Prior to joining BuroHappold, Margot worked as the UK General Counsel for Arcadis, a global company providing design and consultancy for natural and built assets. She also enjoyed success at Hyder Consulting as their UK Legal Counsel and Company Secretary. Such experience has contributed to building Margot’s specialist knowledge of advanced engineering technology’s legal and commercial aspects. Consequently, she is instrumental in putting the best contracts into place for BuroHappold and our clients.
Passionate about community engagement along with diversity and inclusion, Margot helped drive the launch of the Bristol Equality Charter and is a Business Member of the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership
