Julie leads integrated high performance building design teams at BuroHappold Engineering for projects of all sectors and scales. Her key interest is to align the process and results of technical analysis to solutions that enhance design, building performance and ultimately the experience of the building by occupants and visitors.
Julie’s recent work includes: the new black-box theater for St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, NY with Marvel Architects; a high-performance corporate headquarters campus in Baltimore, MD for Under Armour with BCJ; a number of U.S. Embassy projects internationally for the U.S. State Department with SHoP and BNIM and an integrated “roadmap” plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80% by the year 2050 (80×50) for the City of New York.
Julie has also worked on a number of projects in the education sector including The House at Cornell Tech – the world’s tallest Passive House building with Handel Architects and the Verizon Executive Education Center at Cornell Tech with Snøhetta.
Julie received a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan and a Master of Design Science in Sustainable Design from the University of Sydney, and is an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University as well as a visiting critic at a number of other universities.
