Hugh Mallett

As a chartered engineering geologist with over 30 years’ experience, Hugh joined Buro Happold in 2006 to lead our geo-environmental team.

With over 20 years’ experience in land projects on sites affected by toxic, chemical and landfill gas contamination, Hugh has prepared expert witness evidence and best practice guidance. He has also delivered training and made numerous presentations to both technical and non-specialist audiences on contaminated land matters.

Having spent the first 10 years of his career working on the geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical aspects of civil engineering projects, Hugh has significant experience in the sector.

By adopting a multi-disciplinary approach to his work, he succeeds in delivering innovative solutions to a broad range of clients in both the public and private sector.

Hugh’s technical advice and professional leadership have been used around the world by governments and private companies alike. He has been engaged in the formulation of government policy and the implementation of related research.
