Dirk Visser

Joining Buro Happold in 2014, Dirk is a Partner and our Rotterdam Office Director and Europe Structures Lead.

Dirk has over 20 years of design experience spanning three continents: Europe, the Middle East and North America.

He has worked both as a Structural Designer and Project Director overseeing numerous engineering services on a variety of projects. These range from historical renovations, residential buildings, sports complexes, high-rises, offices, hotels, academic buildings and multi-purpose centres like the Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai and the Cultural and Education District Stratford Waterfront in London.

Dirk founded our Rotterdam Office in 2020 and has been a key driving force behind the office’s growth which currently houses a diverse and multidisciplinary team of designers, consultants and engineers.

Since 2013, Dirk has lectured on Structural Design and Mechanics at the Faculty of Architecture, Delft University of Technology. He has also guest lectured at the UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture in London.

Dirk graduated from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands with an MSc degree in Structural Engineering. He is a registered designer in the Netherlands (RO).
