With a BSc in Physics and an MSc in Energy Conservation and the Environment, David joined our Leeds office in 1989 as a building services engineer. Since then he has built up extensive knowledge and experience of building design, construction, and operation and the application of simulation, optimising comfort and energy performance in and around buildings. He now heads our computational analysis service. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.
As an associate director with Buro Happold, David is placed at the centre of our services. His approach to computational analysis is applied across all our sectors, coupling neatly with the full body of our service offerings. This holistic approach helps to keep us adaptable in the face of ever changing and increasing demands of our built environment.
David’s background in energy conservation enables him to produce effective cost optimised low energy and carbon buildings and environmentally sensitive designs. Sustainability is central to his work. He integrates the need for comfortable, functional buildings into the vital area of sustainability seamlessly.
David’s experience of building physics, energy advice and detailed modelling has enabled him to realise energy and emissions targets. This includes extensive knowledge of the UK Building Regulations Part L compliance and Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) and Display Energy Certificates (DEC). This knowledge makes David a considerable asset to the design of modern structures as well as the optimisation of existing buildings.
