David is a Senior People Flow Analyst within the Smart Space team at BuroHappold, with a particular interest in using and developing modelling tools to optimise processes and spaces to improve the overall experience of pedestrians. David’s role is the link between the development of our in-house software such as SmartMove, SmartSpaceAnalyser and SmartProcessAnalyser and their use on consultancy projects dedicated to putting people at the heart of buildings and masterplan designs.
After completing his PhD in optimisation techniques and complex structures at the University of Bath, David worked as an academic researcher in Mechanical Engineering, before joining BuroHappold in 2014. David’s key skills revolve around combining expertise in analytical modelling and optimisation techniques with his creativity and problem solving ability. He is adept at engaging with clients and key stakeholders to understand problems and concerns, extracting the key information to inform analysis and pedestrian crowd flow modelling.
He plays the ‘user’ role on all software projects, working closely with developers to provide powerful, efficient, user-friendly and intuitive tools. In addition to internal software development, David is the client liaison on external software projects, working closely with clients to deliver tools which are aligned to their needs.
David’s experience covers several high profile projects including New York High Line, Stratford Waterfront Public Realm, Cardiff Central Square Masterplanning, European Investment Bank, Madinah Central Area Masterplan, and Ambani Exhibition and Convention Centre Mumbai.
