World’s first SABRE Certification awarded by a Buro Happold security assessor

Buro Happold security consultant, Gez Hart, has become the first SABRE qualified assessor in the world to award a development with the officially recognised SABRE security accreditation.

The International Quarter London (IQL) has been assessed to the ‘Excellent Rating’, and is the first in-use scheme to be given this recognition. SABRE, developed by BRE Global, is a security risk management standard that can be applied to new construction projects and in-use facilities.

Gez commented “I am delighted to have been involved in, and be the first to complete the SABRE assessment for Lendlease on the International Quarter London estate. I believe that this will assist Lendlease to measure, improve and furthermore, communicate their security risk management performance within their estate in an ever-changing world. Our security team, including two SABRE qualified assessors, can provide advice on and complete SABRE assessments either within specific projects or as a single service.”

Andrew Tobin, Project Director for IQL, Lendlease said:  “At IQL we are helping to shape a neighbourhood and are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. To achieve that aim it is of paramount importance that we place the safety and security of our community at the very top of our agenda. We are really proud to be recognised for our efforts with SABRE certification, which is a fantastic accolade for the project.”
