New global technology lead appointed
BuroHappold has announced the appointment of Tony Scott as its new Global Technology Director
Tony will focus on digital transformation, driving BuroHappold’s development of technological innovations and ensuring the company is leading in computational engineering, data science and the digital innovations that promise to transform the industry.
Tony will rapidly accelerate our adoption and integration of digital technologies into our work, improving the productivity and engagement of all our people, our working environment and our clients’ outcomes. He builds on the incredible work we have already achieved in this space.
James Bruce, Chief Operating and Financial Officer, BuroHappold
Tony has previous experience in senior positions at WSP, Atkins and Arup, leading local and global digital transformation programmes and IT strategy. He brings more than 30 years’ experience working in technology roles across a range of industries.
Tony said: “I’m eager to get started at BuroHappold. I’m incredibly impressed by the depth and breadth of our work in areas such as computational engineering, where we are developing innovative programmes to combat our industry’s interoperability challenges and helping creativity and efficiency in design flourish.”
In recent years BuroHappold has ensured it takes an open approach to design and technology, applying a computational engineering mindset to all of its projects.
“With much of my early career in coding and software engineering, I love this computational work and how it helps our engineers achieve their potential. The technology we develop here frees our people up to carry out the creative tasks that allow them to thrive and deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients.
“I’m also excited by our work in data science and the vast range of whole life outcomes it is increasingly opening up for our clients in everything from smart buildings to smart infrastructure and cities. I believe it’s by these human and business outcomes, some of which had previously been thought impossible or, more excitingly, never before conceived, that we define ourselves, rather than by the individual pieces of technology that simply enable them.
“There’s a great opportunity here in driving the company to embrace digital transformation and to be genuine thought leaders in this space. I’m incredibly excited to be helping take BuroHappold on this journey.”
