Higher education projects named best around world by architectural digest

Architectural Digest recently named the nine best new university buildings around the world, including two Buro Happold projects that opened this year. Yale University’s new Foster+Partners designed School of Management building, Edwards P. Evans Hall holds the number one spot.

Buro Happold provided structural, MEP and fire engineering services along with sustainability consulting for the 242,000 SF building. Located on a 4.25-acre site on the New Haven campus, the School of Management houses 16 state-of-the-art classrooms, faculty offices, a media library, student and community spaces and a 350 seat auditorium.

Also on the list is Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s design for the New School’s University Center in the heart of New York City. Buro Happold provided energy modeling and sustainability services for the 375,000 SF iconic structure. The New School’s University Center is both a contribution to the urban fabric as well as a true campus center that includes classrooms, laboratories, an 800 seat auditorium and additional space.
