40 years of making the vision viable
Forty years ago, Sir Ted Happold had the vision to start “Buro Happold”, and since its formation in 1976 we’ve been on a great adventure and one we will continue for decades to come.
By making a place where brilliant, inspired people can work together to tackle some of the most complex engineering challenges we have been able to harness the “magic of the engineering mind” and had a real impact – designing world class projects and creating better communities.
Ted Happold started with a few great people working from a modest office in Bath, UK; but he, and his partners, had a big vision. They set in motion what is now BuroHappold Engineering. Just imagine what we can achieve in the next 40 years.
Ted , the company’s founder, excelled at unleashing the magic within people, and BuroHappold was, and still is, a place this can happen – Mike Cook, Chairman
Engineering is coming out of the shadows. Driven by accelerated change in technology and analysis, the future is an exciting place to be and we are working at the heart of it. The principle we live by, that pushes us to test the very edges of possibility, is to drive for positive impact wherever we can, for the benefit of people, our planet and the cities in which we live.
We’ve had such an incredible 40 years at BuroHappold, with some of the world’s most extraordinary projects, I can say it is a privilege and no small responsibility to maintain and grow that legacy – Roger Nickells, CEO
