Balance, oversight and good governance
The work of the supervisory board
Good governance comes from the blending of a tightly woven management team that knows its industry inside and out, and other members with a broader business experience, to guide and measure. Our Supervisory Board brings together the essential ingredients to direct and protect.
Beyond ratifying vision and mission, sound and inspired governance involves a number of elements such as the care and consideration of our people and ensuring we are at the leading edge of human resources thinking and practice, being disciplined in our fiduciary performance, systems and processes to build robustness and efficiency and not least, an astute awareness of the temperature of markets and an understanding of where our next clients and projects will come from.
BuroHappold is privileged to have two non- executive board members in Nicola Nicholls and Richard Sykes. They maintain the accountability so necessary for us to achieve stretch goals and challenge the team’s thinking with a timely “why are we doing this?”. Nicola has sat on the boards of dozens of companies, academic organisations, charities, advisory boards and social enterprises. She has a background in private equity.
Richard is Chairman of Brand Finance and until recently was a partner at PWC. Their breadth of experience gives the practice a much larger business lens to see through, beyond that of the engineering world.
