Richard is a Director in the Buro Happold Cities team, and a chartered town planner with over 20 years of professional experience.

He specialises in strategic planning and consulting and has completed projects working for national, city and regional governments, international financial institutions and private sector clients, in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia.  

Richard specialises in analysing the trends and issues that are changing cities and urban areas and applying this data analysis with his skills in infrastructure planning, economic development, urban and land use planning and policy development to develop integrated plans and strategic planning advice.

Richard has led multi-disciplinary project teams on a diverse range of projects including: regional infrastructure growth corridors, city scale economic regeneration, mixed used urban neighbourhoods, green infrastructure masterplans, and assessments of transit-oriented development potential.

Richard previously worked for Atkins and the London Borough of Merton. Richard worked for Atkins for 13 years heading up their London planning team, working on a range of international and UK based urban planning projects.
