Buro Happold named Education Estates Consultancy of the Year 2020

Buro Happold has retained the prestigious title of Consultancy of the Year at the Education Estates Awards 2020.

Our UK Education sector team received praise for their use of unique spatial analytics tools to help universities plan for reopening with social distancing measures. Despite these challenging conditions, our data-driven approach and dashboarding skills resulted in enhanced institutional efficiency, whilst providing staff and students with a safe and high-quality experience.

The judges also recognised the importance of our long-term relationships with clients and collaborators who value the innovation, responsiveness, expertise and diligence of our service offering. Most notably, in regards to the complex and critical challenges of the climate emergency, net zero carbon campuses and Covid-19.

In the field of student mental health, the judges recognised our continued research and engagement programmes within our project work, in particular promoting the themes of social interaction, ease of movement, physical wellbeing and internal environmental quality.

We place building performance at the heart of our engineering design, so the support from our clients helped demonstrate our continued success in delivering buildings that provide excellent environments for students and academics, whilst having exceptionally low energy performance.

Our groundbreaking work in net zero carbon strategies has helped clients University of Leeds, University of Edinburgh and Durham University with decarbonisation solutions that go beyond an aspirational technical fix. We provide integrated thinking across a wide range of metrics to ensure that multiple outcomes can be achieved with limited budgets.
