Rod studied engineering at the University of Strathclyde in the UK. He began his career with Buro Happold after graduating in 1987 and has been based in many offices across the practice, including the United Kingdom, European and Middle East offices.

Over the past five years, Rod has been responsible for developing our North Europe region in the UK and Nordic countries and is now implementing our growth and further development in the wider Nordic region. He is currently based in our Berlin office.

Rod is the partner responsible for some of our finest projects within the practice, including the Copenhagen Opera House, Glasgow Riverside Museum, Aberdeen City Gardens, the Museum of Liverpool, the Saudi Aramco Cultural Centre, the Library of Birmingham, the Munich Concert Hall and Queens University Belfast Library.

Rod’s years of experience have covered a range of major projects across the Europe and the Middle East. Rod is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, Institute of Energy and The Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Rod is a true Scot and his approach to engineering is often seen as “no nonsense”, enabling him to achieve high value, low cost designs to short procurement programs. Clients and colleagues alike enjoy working with Rod, knowing that in his hands an outstanding result will be met, with equally outstanding celebrations.
