Paul Richardson is a principal at Buro Happold and leads the structural engineering team in the Boston office.

Having been with Buro Happold for nearly 20 years, Paul’s creativity and ingenuity have led to the successful completion of projects worldwide across all sectors – from higher education, cultural, and residential buildings to mixed-use complexes and transportation hubs.

Since joining the Boston team in 2016, Paul has worked on numerous projects in the city and across the US which includes Harvard University’s new Science and Engineering Complex, a nearly 500,000ft2 building that will encompass a broad range of research areas as well as MIT’s refurbishment of the Hayden Library. Additionally, he is working on the expansion at Crystal Bridges Museum in Arkansas and Wellesley’s Global Flora Greenhouse, Massachusetts’ first ETFE structure.

Recently Paul has been leading a number of Mass Timber projects that have resulted from a study with MIT into the use of Mass Timber in Affordable Housing. Paul is the project lead on the 201 Hampden Street project which is in line to be Boston’s first CLT building and a new Health & Wellness Center at Quinnipiac University which is a hybrid steel/mass timber structure. Paul has been a regular guest lecturer and critic at MIT, along with Harvard and Northeastern University.
