Santa Monica Palisades Garden Walk
1 / Introduction
Providing a pivotal link between the Santa Monica Civic Center and its major natural, cultural, and economic assets, the 7-acre Santa Monica Palisades Garden Walk and Town Square Project will focus on the city’s unique cultural and horticultural offerings.
Buro Happold is providing integrated engineering services in the fields of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) engineering, structural engineering, and civil engineering, as well as sustainability design services with a specified focus on water conservation for irrigation and regrading of the land to create the dramatic views and topography of the Arroyo Ravines.
Working with more than 16,000 cubic yards of soil topography across the park, Buro Happold is contributing to the design and installation of several significant structures located throughout the site. These structures include concrete comfort stations, 3 steel overlook structures with cantilever observatory decks, and a shading structure over the existing McClure Tunnel for pedestrians.
Current features within the park limits will also be re-designed as part of the project, including the re-design of street lighting along Main Street along with 1-acre of area in front of City Hall earmarked for water feature installations.
