Rob is a Doctor of engineering and chartered energy engineer with over 10 years industry experience. His time in Buro Happold has involved leading a range of new initiatives from cutting-edge research to development of new tools and services relating to energy and wider sustainability. Rob has a keen interest in decision making theory and how the design team and decision processes influence the application of measures to improve the sustainability of the built environment.

Through the combination of research and project work Rob provides strategic sustainability guidance together with technical analysis and design development for innovative design concepts. These skills are applied throughout the design and construction stages for projects of all scales, including auditing existing buildings, reviewing company-wide operations, individual building design and masterplanning new developments. From being instrumental in founding the Sustainability and Alternative Technologies group to leading the Bath office team and now the Middle East region, Rob has been both a thought leader and champion of others.

Since completing an Engineering Doctorate that focused on understanding and overcoming the barriers to the integration of alternative energy technologies in the built environment, Rob has initiated and supervised further research into waste, geothermal, water technologies, natural materials and decision theory.
