Richard graduated from Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1992 and worked in New Zealand and South East Asia before joining Buro Happold in the Kuala Lumpur office in 1997.

Subsequently he has worked in Buro Happold offices in the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East. He moved to Riyadh in 2001 and subsequently to the Dubai office in 2004 where he remains.

He is currently the leader of the structural engineering discipline in the Middle East. In addition he is a member of Buro Happold’s Supervisory Board.

Richard leads the practices Tall Building’s Expert Community and has a special interest and expertise in both tall building design and seismic engineering. He has worked on dozens of tall building projects of up to 720m/150 storeys in height around the world.
