Mike Cooper

Mike is a seasoned engineering professional who has lived and worked in the UK (Manchester, Glasgow, Northern Ireland and Newcastle) and travelled extensively overseas including USA, Japan, Korea, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

His experience reflects many projects for international clients where demanding timescales (time to market) and tight environmental standards and cost plans have prevailed.

He has supported overseas government agencies inward investment trips and specialist standards committees particularly for large scale cleanrooms in the electronics sectors. As a result he has delivered papers and acted as Expert Witness on occasion for clients and insurance companies.

He has mainly worked in contractor lead construction environment where get it right first time prevails.

As a result Mike's interests have focussed more recently on the performance gap that often exists between the design and operation of buildings and the need to provide a more special consultancy input to manage and control these expectations. The balance of comfort, carbon emissions and cost are crucial.

Analysis and regulation are increasingly important and the involvement of university academics in creating interactive virtual construction environments will be increasingly prevalent.
