Kate leads Happold Consulting’s US practice. American by background, Kate received her Masters and Doctorate degrees from the London School of Economics. Her work in urban planning and public-private partnerships spans both public and private sectors. Her public sector work has involved overseeing major transportation infrastructure and master planning projects for the City of New York and the broader metropolitan region, including the development of solid waste, telecommunication and energy plans as well as major airport, rail and port development deals.
In the private sector, she has worked in management consulting and corporate finance in London, advising government and private companies on privatisation and strategic planning, and at Vornado Realty Trust in New York, where she oversaw the design and permitting of commercial office projects.
Kate is currently the Milstein Professor of Urban Development at Columbia University, where she teaches real estate, infrastructure and urban planning courses. She is also the author of several books on public infrastructure and the delivery of municipal services.
