Managing Partner for North America

David is a principal at Buro Happold with specific responsibility for leading the MEP design teams for the West Coast of the United States. His design philosophy is that successful environmental design is achieved through influencing the architectural language, form, function and fabric of a building, masterplan or landscape to minimize the environmental impact of energy, water, material, and waste.

Over a 20 year career David’s willingness to involve himself and collaborate during each project phase from conceptual design to construction has continually aided his teams in achieving the highest levels of sustainability through consistently innovative solutions tailored to each project’s unique challenges. He has had the opportunity to influence the building design of several noteworthy projects including most recently the iconic intermodal transportation stations in San Francisco and Anaheim that will form part of the future California high speed rail link and provide models for future sustainable transportation design.

He is a guest lecturer on environmental design for the multi disciplinary architectural and engineering design studio at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and also leads the Green Building Design Course at UCLA for the Ziman Center for Real Estate, a joint center between the UCLA Anderson School of Management and the UCLA School of Law.
