Having graduated from Cambridge University in 2003, Alasdair joined Buro Happold in 2005 after working in the paper industry. Now in his role as joint head of our sustainability team in London, he is involved with a great many of our projects. From large scale energy studies to examining sustainability in housing developments, his experience since joining us has been broad.

With a specialism in designing infrastructure systems that enable sustainable and low carbon developments, Alasdair has taken the lead on numerous projects involving sustainable energy, water and waste infrastructure. Alasdair’s particular interest is in ‘closing the loop’ through integration of these systems.

Our practice champion for combined heat and power (CHP) and community heating, Alasdair’s passion for sustainable engineering shines through in each of his projects. His experience also includes detailed knowledge of low and zero carbon technologies including photovoltaics, biomass and large scale wind power.
