Alan has over 20 years’ experience in civil engineering covering both public and private sector consultancy work from the masterplanning stage to implementation. Having joined Buro Happold in 1992, Alan has had a fast-track career with the company. He was promoted to Group Manager in 1998 after returning from a period of working overseas in our Kuala Lumpur office before taking up the post of Group Director in 2000.

After becoming a partner of Buro Happold in May 2005, Alan was responsible for leading the growing Infrastructure group in our Bath office, which encompasses site-wide infrastructure design, highways and transportation, river and coastal design and environmental planning. He has recently taken responsibility for leading the Strategic Civil Engineering within the Environment and Infrastructure business and linking the specialist civil engineering offering to Happold Consulting.

Alan has extensive overseas experience and is currently actively involved in overseeing many projects in the Middle East and Central Europe. He remains involved in project work and is responsible for the client and project team liaison for the design of a number of major infrastructure, transportation studies and preparation of contract documents for various forms of procurement. He is currently leading a design team delivering earthworks, marine and infrastructure design for the Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City project in Kuwait.
