An Italian milestone for LEED certification

Buro Happold has achieved a milestone for LEED certification in Italy with the ‘Segreen Business Park A-C’ in Milan achieving LEED Platinum. The business park which is a complex of four office buildings of 40,000 m², has been upgraded to the highest global standards and is now on a par with other Buro Happold Platinum projects such as Torre Iberdrola in Bilbao and the Hawaii Preparatory Academy. Thomas Kraubitz who lead the certification process commented: “This is a great success for Buro Happold as Segreen has achieved the highest possible rating of a LEED project and the first Platinum certification for an existing building or group of buildings in Italy.”

Segreen, a CBRE Global Investors project, clearly shows the strength of our offerings in energy efficiency consulting and our future-oriented approach for existing complexes. Through close collaboration with our client and the input of our Physics team Buro Happold delivered a best-in-class project which achieved LEED Platinum certification. These included highly efficient fixtures resulting in water savings of 66 %, a 24 % energy cost savings and a total of 81 % of the building being reused after the major refurbishment.

Winner of a 2013 Rebuild award the project has also been shortlisted for the MIPIM awards 2015 in the Best Refurbishment category.
