BuroHappold’s Agnieszka Szymczyk has continued the trend of winning in the Middle East by being recognised as the Young MEP Engineer of the Year for 2012. This follows on from Mike Slessor’s win last year.

Agnieszka has been an integral part of the BuroHappold team. She has significantly improved the practice’s ability to model complex engineering problems through technology and most recently has been a key member of the site team working through the commissioning of Abu Dhabi’s tallest building, the Landmark Tower.

In announcing the award the judges recognised Agnieszka’s creativity in design, which is so clearly evident in her portfolio.

Commenting on her win, Agneiszka said “I guess the important thing here is that this award is not only my award, but also belongs to all the great people I have been working with, and who I have been learning from.”

Middle East MEP lead, Robert Okpala, noted that Agnieszka has shown a huge amount of intellect, passion and commitment over the past year and that her tenacity has kept the team moving forward at a pace. “It is great that her efforts are being recognised by the industry,” he said.

BuroHappold’s Dr Robert Cooke, was also recognised at the awards and was named MEP Engineer of the Year for 2012.
