Nebraska’s new Pinnacle Bank Arena opened for its first concert on September 13; with tickets a sell out for singer/songwriter Michael Bublé's performance.
Buro Happold, who provided structural engineering on the arena from concept through to construction administration, worked alongside designers DLR Group and Mortenson Construction to deliver the arena on time and on budget.
"They did a beautiful job," Bublé said at the beginning of the show. "I can tell you, aesthetically the building is beautiful." At the end of his set, he said: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the great highlights of my career to be here and open this building for you."
Pinnacle Bank Arena will act as a catalyst to the West Haymarket Redevelopment Project, situated in the district of Lincoln, Nebraska. With a center stage capacity of 15,900, and covering 470,400 ft², the arena estimates it will hold around 120 annual events, with 700,000 people in attendance. In addition to music concerts and touring acts, the arena will also host the University of Nebraska’s basketball fixtures.
