BuroHappold’s Dr Robert Cooke, already a well known personality in the industry in the Middle East, is the proud winner of the MEP Engineer of the Year for 2012.

Rob was recognised for his significant contribution to sustainable design and for his leadership in the development and progression of the Emirates Green Building Council. With a portfolio of award winning projects at both masterplan and building level, and a strong involvement in the UPC Estidama process, Rob’s work has already influenced a wide spectrum of clients and collaborators.

Commenting on his win Rob was quick to thank those around him, particularly the visionary clients who have been keen to develop their thinking through their project work.

UAE Regional Director for BuroHappold, Kevin Mitchell, said: “We are naturally proud of Rob and of the recognition that his, and that of his team's work, has achieved. We firmly believe that our role as engineers is to support our clients in providing designs that are as environmentally responsive as possible, and this is a trait that Rob exemplifies.”

Commenting on this and on Agnieszka Szymczyk’s success as Young MEP Engineer of the Year, BuroHappold’s Managing Director for the region, Roger Nickells, said “we are immensely proud of our winners. We are a business that is simply the sum of the combined intellect of our people, they are the best in the industry and we are very proud that this is recognised again.”
