New visitor centre for the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh. The building is an entrance as well as exhibition and education space for the garden. The structural design has developed through discussion with the architect and other design team members. In several parts of the building, structural elements are expressed architecturally. Thus the structural grid is used to divide spaces and the beam orientation is chosen to suit the layout of the exhibition and views from the windows.
