The new Saudi Arabian Embassy and Ambassador’s Residency in New Delhi are one step closer to completion with the recent laying of the first concrete blinding.
Eddie Pugh, one of Buro Happold’s most experienced engineers in the Middle East, was on hand to help with the task. Eddie was joined by Saudi Arabian Ambassador Dr A Saiti, who will move his team in to the Embassy once it’s completed.
Located in the Diplomatic Quarter of the city, the site covers a total area of 16,000m² is easily accessed by visitors and staff alike. While both the Embassy and the Residency will occupy the same site, they will be served by independent entrances. The Embassy itself will consist of a three storey building and one basement for parking and other utilities. The layout will include general offices, visa sections, conference rooms and a consular office.
Buro Happold is taking a supervisory role in this prestigious project which will include project management and a design review. The Embassy and Ambassador’s Residence are due for completion in October 2014.
