Buro Happold's New York Office is excited to announce that the Pinnacle Bank Arena project in Lincoln, Nebraska has won the engineering category in the 11th annual Tekla North America BIM Awards competition. DLR Group was the lead architect and Mortenson Construction the construction manager for the arena which features a 350 ft long span steel roof.
Tekla software is a leader in bringing building information modeling (BIM) software and online tools to the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) markets. The model competition is held annually and recognizes companies for exemplary use of BIM and Tekla structures across four categories: best use of BIM overall, engineering, steel and concrete.
Buro Happold prepared a Tekla model during the arena's design as part of the construction documents required by the contractor to order steel. Then Buro Happold, in conjunction with Lejeune Steel, Computer Detailing, Inc., used the Tekla model to coordinate the connections and other disciplines during the detailing and construction process. The project's success, in large part, is due to the commitment of the design and construction teams to use the latest software that best benefited the project as a whole.
Pinnacle Bank Arena will act as a catalyst to the West Haymarket Redevelopment project. The arena has a center stage capacity of 15,900, and covers 470,400 ft2. In addition to music concerts and touring acts, it will also host the University of Nebraska’s basketball fixtures.
