Buro Happold projects took three of the main categories at last night’s British Construction Industry awards (BCIA).
Over 900 of the industry elite looked on as the winners of the 25th BCI awards collected their prizes at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
The three winning projects that Buro Happold has delivered are:
- Best building project of the year (up to £3m) – Garsington Opera Pavilion, Buckinghamshire
- Best building project of the year (£3m to £50m) – Dundee House, Scotland
- Judges’ Special award – McLaren Production Centre, Woking, Surrey
The judges’ citation for Garsington Opera Pavilion read: “The whole concept and delivery of a demountable structure to achieve an inspiring building pushes conventional boundaries of procurement, design and construction in many ways.”
Their comments for the McLaren Production Centre were: “The client’s drive, vision and focus on quality set the tone for this project, which met its needs and was delivered by a team who understood them.”
Stuart Munro, office director for Buro Happold in Glasgow and Edinburgh, whose team worked on the Dundee house project for Dundee Council said “We are truly proud to have delivered the structural, M&E and lighting engineering for Dundee House and to have helped to create such an easily accessible point of contact for the public living and working in the city.”
