Dr Shrikant Sharma to talk about advanced applications of BIM for integrated modelling

Dr Shrikant Sharma, computational design expert at international multidisciplinary engineering consultancy Buro Happold is to share his extensive knowledge and expertise on the advanced applications of BIM for integrated modelling at BIM Show Live 2011 on Tuesday 1 November at 2:45pm.

Dr Sharma heads up SMART Solutions, Buro Happold’s specialist service that offers engineering innovations driven by computational modelling, analysis and simulations. His key interests are in the development of new technologies to deliver simple, cost-effective solutions for the built environment and beyond.

Dr Sharma’s specialism is in People Movement; the science of ensuring buildings and public spaces are engineered to incorporate the safe and efficient passage of their communities, helping to manage the flow of crowds at event venues, the movement of pupils in our schools, and the most profitable footfall of shoppers in our retail outlets.

A firm believer in the power of real time design tools that optimise architectural, environmental and functional performance of buildings forms, DR Sharma has been pushing the development of a suite of intuitive software tools integrated to commercial CAD and BIM environments.

His presentation at the BIM Show Live will highlight the advanced applications of BIM for integrated modelling on simple to complex projects. Using real life case studies, he will cover the following topics:

  • Form-to-Fabrication using 3D parametric modelling
  • Collaborative working with multi-discipline design, analysis and simulation tasks
  • Optimisation examples from design to constructions and operations
  • Real time BIM for rapid concept stage optioneering from form-finding to space planning
  • Examples in urban design applications

BIM Show Live, which is being held at the London Business Design Centre, will give attendees the opportunity to see how many practices and organisations are using new processes and technology to harness the potential that BIM can offer. Speakers at the conference will cover a range of topics covering all aspects of the BIM lifecycle, and in addition there will be an exhibition demonstrating some of the latest technologies.
