The opening of our Dubai office in 2004 meant Buro Happold was even better placed to provide clients with a full multidisciplinary engineering consultancy service in this fast developing region.
With its Western style economy based on tourism, real estate, and financial services, this global city and business hub accounts for around 80 per cent of the UAE's non-oil trade and is viewed as a very stable entry point into the Middle East, with an economy set for 3 to 5 % GDP growth this year.
This is also reflected in the projects that Buro Happold has helped to create in Dubai, including Bur Juman, one of the world’s most high profile luxury shopping destinations and a key site on the tourist map, and Dubai Waterfront: a luxury waterside community being developed 35km to the southwest of the city.
We also see Dubai as our gateway to Africa with projects currently underway in Mozambique, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
